Vivisection – 21 August 2008

Here are some thoughts about the subject of vivisection, in other words, experimentation on animals:

“There is, however, another subject on which the Queen feels most strongly, and that is this horrible, brutalizing, un-Christian-like vivisection…It must really not be permitted. It is a disgrace to a civilized country.”

– Queen Victoria (1819–1901)

“During my medical education at the University of Basel, I found vivisection horrible, barbarous, and above all, unnecessary.”

– Carl Jung (1905–1961) Swiss psychiatrist

“Vivisection is the blackest of all the black crimes that man is at present committing against God and his animal creations.”

“I abhor vivisection with my whole soul. All the scientific discoveries stained with innocent blood I count as of no consequence.”

– Mahatma Gandhi (1869–1948) Hindu nationalist leader

"Joyful Curmudgeon"
An oxymoron?
No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful.  At the same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true peace and compassion.
