These two quotations of Jean-Jacques Rousseau remind me of two
scriptures: Genesis 8:21, where God says “…the intent of man’s heart is
evil from his youth,” and Job 12:7-10:
7 “Ask the animals, and they will teach you. Ask the birds of the
sky, and they will tell you.
8 Speak to the earth, and it will instruct you. Let the fish of the
sea speak to you.
9 They all know that the Lord has done this.
10 For the life of every living thing is in his hand, and the
breath of all humanity.”

No! I see all the beauty of God's creation and I'm joyful. At the
same time, I see all the suffering and corruption going on in the
world, and feel called to help expose and end it so that we may have true
peace and compassion.
