Summary:
- Deforestation in India: Mr. Marr told us that the villagers were
using up too much wood for building and fuel. The land around the
villages had been deforested, and the villagers had to hike 5 miles for
more wood. He showed the villagers alternative energy technologies, such
as biogas and solar ovens.
- Tiger population: It has been decreasing significantly, due to
deforestation and poaching. The solution to would be to rely on other
resources and kill off the black market for tigers and tiger parts.
- Over eating and overgrazing of cows: There are 35 million cows eaten
in America each year. The land taken up to raise cows could be used for
other things, such as nature. The living condition of the cows is also
dismal.
Opinion:
The information that Mr. Marr gave was interesting and important. The way
he showed the slides of tiger populations and habitat decreasing over the
years is very effective.
