Summary:

  • Anthony Marr is an activist working to help save our planet and the animals that live on it. He founded an organization called Heal Our Planet Earth (HOPE) and works in many countries, in this case, India. He gave our class some shocking information about tigers, the environment and other endangered species.
  • Anthony Marr believes that the tiger is one of the most revered animals on the planet. He said, "If we cant save even the tiger, Im not sure what we can save."
  • The planet loses dozens of species every day.
  • India loses 6 billion tons of fertile soil each year from deforestation, overgrazing and the monsoon.
  • The illegal global wildlife trade is second only to the illegal drug trade, involving 10 billion dollars a year.

Opinion:

I thoroughly enjoyed Anthony Marrs presentation. His slides were very interesting and very well put together. Each slide was more than a picture; it was an interesting fact or story that she shred with us. He was a great speaker and kept me interested the whole time.

In answer to a question, Mr. Marr told us that he was a vegan. Although I am not a vegan or vegetarian, I dont eat a lot of meat. My mom always buys me veggie patties, burgers and hotdogs. I have always considered becoming a vegetarian, but I know it would be very hard to do.

Anthony Marrs presentation left me with a lot of shocking numbers, statistics and facts. It is so sad to see beautiful animals disappearing from our planet. His presentation made me think a lot more about the things that I should be doing to try and help our planet. I know that I do my own small part, but there is definitely more I could do. I agree with everything Mr. Marr was saying. We take our planet and the beautiful creature on it for granted.
