Hello everyone,
Today is Barack Obama's first day of foreign travel as US president. The
country is Canada - mine. On the agenda are of course the economy, the
environment and energy. There is one thing uniquely Canadian central to all
three - the Alberta tar sands - the "Worst Hellhole on Earth".
July 2008, my first stop in my 6th Compassion for Animals Road Expedition
(CARE-6), focusing on Mass Extinction due to Global Warming, was Fort
McMurray, Alberta, where I took a ground tour of the Suncor mine, and
chartered a Cessna for 2 hours to aerial photo/video-document all 6 current
tar sands mines.
