If an event was advertised where kids were invited to insert sharp, barbed hooks into the throats of puppies then swing them aloft before asphyxiating them, the public would be outraged.
Yet, if an event is advertised, inviting kids to torture another animal in this same cruel manner (Hook them to a great catch, 13/10) nobody takes any notice.
Why? Research has shown that a fish feels pain in much the same way as a puppy – or us. How can we ever expect animal cruelty to decrease when children are being taught that sticking hooks though the faces of animals, then asphyxiating them, is fun?
