“The cult of veganism” (Fighting Fit, April 8) suggests that veganism is simply a fad or craze but it is neither. Although many people switch to a vegan diet because it is better for their health and the environment, the vast majority do so because they recognise that needlessly subjecting non-human beings to a lifetime of suffering culminating with a terrifying and violent death is simply unjustifiable.
Going vegan is about justice. It’s about choosing right over might. Humans are not natural carnivores thus we don’t need to eat like carnivores. As for veganism being “a matter of choice”...why is it that people think the choice should be all ours?
