1 John 1:5 New Living Translation
5. This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all.
The new age movement took the word "light" and the concept of soaking in the light and made it to mean something attainable through our own efforts. In these self absorbed arenas where they teach this idea, people are led to beleive we have some mysterious inner power that we can access through nirvana, which is a state of perfect happiness; an ideal or idyllic place. The dependence of "self" to achieve this perfect state of being eliminates the need for a Savior and keeps people believing that independence from God is right and good.
Satan has tried to elevate himself as God, since he first rebelled against Him, so we know where this belief comes from. God created all things and Satan takes these things, twists them to mean something self centered or evil and then deceives those searching for God. Remember he comes as an angel of light.
Now when the word "light" is mentioned Christians have a tendency to think in terms of new age.
We need to change our mindset and how we see things that Satan has stolen from Christians. God owns light; He created it as an extension of Himself for He is light and it came out from Him as a natural flow of who He is. Light dispels the darkness we had within us before giving our lives to Jesus. He created us to be light as He is light.
Jesus calls us light. Matthew 5:14 New King James Version
14. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
God created us in His image and He is light so we are light. Jesus did not say "you have the light in you" He said "you are the light".
We must stop allowing darkness from taking the truth about what light is and learn how we are to be as lights in the world. In heaven there won't be sun or moon. There won't be lamps or candles because God Himself is the light. In the world He is the Spiritual light and we need to have His beams of light flooding our souls and making us more like Him.
God bless,

The
purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate,
and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through
Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord
require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your
God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or
crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the
standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for
the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not
Christian.
