1 Peter 2:9 New Living Translation
9. You are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.
It is incredible to think that God who needs no one or nothing chose us. He looked upon our hearts and called us out of darkness into His wonderfully brilliant and all encompassing light. This is the light that draws us into revelation and awakens our hearts.
As a holy nation we belong to a culture that is designed to be different; handpicked by God Himself. We are one race of many and stand as agents of God on earth. We walk in the footprints Jesus made for us and our relationship with Him slowly cultivates the attributes that make us Christlike. We are given the high honor of declaring who God is; The Almighty One.
As priests of the kingdom our duties are of the heart and not of the Old Testament sacrifice and rituals. Our sacrifice is our obedience and worshipful allegiance to God which brings glory to Him.
At one time it was the select few of appointed kings and priests who were the chosen, but now it is any who will bow the knee to our God and declare the name of Jesus. God saw our pitiful attempts to be good and still embraced us when we failed. We are no longer in bondage to the world. With our freedom we are responsible for walking in a position of love and authority.
We have the power to be excellent and the privilege of being a part of the greatest plan that ever existed. Our destiny is in every footstep we take. when God accepted us into His Kingdom, He brought us into a time and place separate from this world and into a life that is abundant with His grace. We belong to the eternal and must engage with the posture of desiring to become the strong spiritual beings we were meant to be.
We are created for holiness and the compromise we once allowed is no longer acceptable. We are now of the light, owned by God, full of wisdom and good fruit. God has granted us the right to become all that Jesus is; royal priests who are holy as lights in the world.
God bless

The
purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate,
and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy
will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through
Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord
require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your
God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or
crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the
standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for
the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not
Christian.
