Psalm 23:2 New King James Version

2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters

To sheep, a green pasture is food.  It is good tasting and nutritious. There is no better place for sheep to be than out in a meadow.  It is a safe and peaceful place where the sun and wind calms any fears.  These sheep were allowed to freely wonder about.  The shepherds purposely chose a pasture where he kept watch over his sheep in order for them to gather and eat without worry or fear.  These sheep had to trust the shepherd without question.

Green pastures represents the same thing for us.  It is nourishment for our souls when we learn to rest in the Lord. The presence of God is good tasting to our spirit.

Psalm 34:8 New King James Version

8 Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!

He brings us to places He knows are not only good for us, but pleasant to our senses.  Things like purity and holiness are good tasting. We sense the anointing and see the goodness of God.  God designed us to need and enjoy what He offers. Even physical and emotional things can be spiritual.

We were created for the Garden of Eden.  Adam and Eve knew and there were some, like King David, who understood this concept.

It is about letting go with such extreme surrender that peace floods your soul.

This is what God created us for; the calm, the peace.  When we are moved by peace instead of chaos we are better able to hear the voice of God with clarity of thought and purity of heart.

This world has morphed into fleshly desires and roads that lead to destruction, but we should not be affected if we are continually bathing in the liberty of God’s presence.  It is when we are near these still waters we can hear, see and even feel what the beauty of God’s kingdom is.  We may be on earth physically, but internally we must rest in the lavishness of God’s spiritual and emotional Oasis.

Challenge:  For 15 minutes a day sit in silence and allow God to direct your path.

God bless

Marni

lamb-rightThe purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
