Psalm 9:9 Common English Bible

The Lord is a safe place for the oppressed — a safe place in difficult times

In this world where there are so many reasons to be ever watchful, it is absolutely essential that we have somewhere to go when we feel afraid or vulnerable; a place that is safe and stable and causes us to feel secure.

There are places on earth that are calming and inviting;  like being at the ocean or out in the countryside, or by a stream.  People we are close to can give us some sense of feeling safe, But there is only one place of refuge that is constant and certain.  This place is found in the presence of God.  He is the all knowing; all powerful answer in our time of difficulty.  In Him we will find our way out of the dark moments.

We are vulnerable creatures, exposed to whatever dangers lurk around us whether external or internal. It is only in God that we are not alone.

Even in the most populated place we can still feel alone;  But when we immerse our souls in God’s presence, nothing can touch us.

Arrows may fling toward us and bring fear, but it is only in the presence of God where we will understand what we so desperately are seeking; a safe place.

God desires us to trust Him and remain tucked within His great wings of protection where nothing will overtake us

Isaiah 54:17(NKJV)

No weapon formed against you shall prosper

We need God to weave us through the daily obstacles and keep us pointed in the right direction. It is in our obedience to Him that we are kept safe as we abide in the center of His will.  Only He knows what we will encounter physically, mentally and spiritually in our future; and only He can adequately prepare us beforehand so that we have the tools and strength needed when the issues of life become overwhelming.  When we are intimately aware that God is our safe place, it gives us the peace to move forward with confidence.

Challenge:  In any and all difficult situations there is no other place as safe as in the Lord.  Ask Him to surround and fill you with His presence and then just be still.  Allow His grace and strength to lift you up out of the the darkness and listen quietly in your heart for His instruction and direction.

God Bless

lamb-rightThe purpose of this series is to encourage people to live as loving, compassionate, and peacemaking children of God: Jesus tells us to pray, "Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." (Matthew 6:10) God tells us through Micah (6:8), "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what does the Lord require of you But to do justice, to love kindness, And to walk humbly with your God." And we know from Revelation 21:4 that there will be no more mourning, or crying, or pain, or death. Thus, Christian living requires us to set the standards of these conditions here on earth for our fellow human beings, and for the other animals, as a witness to the rest of the world. To do otherwise is not Christian.
