Happy Mother’s Day, Mary

A happy Mother’s Day for you
Makes other Mothers happy, too.

Tradition holds that a child must die
And be served as a roast or fry.

You have said that this is wrong
Because of the mother’s mournful song.

How can we honor you for our daughter
If we make another’s child table fodder?

On your table are veggies, fruits, and grain
To bring light to the world, a peace to gain.

So, on behalf of mothers the world around,
We honor you, as your tears soak the ground,
For trying to end death, and have peace abound.
