Stephanie was Rescued from Being a Holiday Raffled Meal

It makes us cringe to know what the human mind is capable of and what the general public is paying for when they are not vegan.

At this time of year, baby turkeys who were hatched in factories without their mothers, are shipped to farms to be reared for slaughter for the Holiday market. Given their early deprivation, and the violence we inflict on them, it is incredible that they are so affectionate.

Turkeys are one of the most gentle and loving beings at Eden. In fact, it is often difficult to get any work done because it is impossible to walk past a turkey like Stephanie, in this photo, who is looking for such gentle, loving interaction.

It is these loving animals whose lives we take when we are not vegan. If you research how turkeys are artificially inseminated, reared and slaughtered, the violence we perpetrate on them is a stark contrast to their gentle, loving natures.

It makes us cringe to know what the human mind is capable of and what the general public is paying for when they are not vegan.
