(Elderberry, American, Black, or Common (Sambucus canadensis L.) - 05a) The serration on these common elderberry leaflets is quite evident in this photo.  We have also noticed that the serration is also more pronounced near the end of the leaflet, but not on the tip.  And as we can see in this photo, a leaflet can also serve as a resting place for a visiting insect.
