Ghosts

They surround.
Each bleat,
Groan,
Grunt,
Hot breath.

This world has me splintered,
Broken,
Shattered,
To bone.

Pain,
In breathy
Greasy throat.
I yell, in-hope.

I suffer not
Of
Virus,
Of disease.

But of discord,
Ill ease,
Choked words,
Bleeding image.

I am alone
At the sound
Of echoed
Animal Ghosts.
Of memory,
Death.

We are asleep.
The dream
Is rotten.
The human
At odds.

Asleep yet conscious.
Carving,
Destroying,
Humanist.

Happy calves,
Peaceful cows,
Restful pigs,
Chickens with beaks.

Falsified
Fantasy.
Human created.

Narrative of
Greed.
Fisted,
Raucous,
Lie.

Ghosts of the animal haunt,
Echo,
Circle,
Linger,
Restless.

Human hands,
Crimson
Dipped.
Pursed lips
Devouring.

We are
Troubled
Until we
Wake.

Ghosts of Animal Death.

Cow
Image by J.H. Dickinson taken in Northumberland UK near the Roman Wall. A very curious, beautiful cow. I dread to think of their end.
