Sweet Fawn
By Starlight
An Animal Rights Poem from All-Creatures.org

All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize. This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.

Sweet Fawn
By Starlight

Sweet fawn
Why do you look at me so
With those pleading eyes
That my heart aches and cries

Sweet fawn
Why do you look so sad
Aren't you free
Aren't you my best lad

Sweet fawn
Why do you cry so loud
That your voice cannot be drowned
By even the heavy rainfall about

Sweet fawn
Why do you look so hurt
Even though you were free
From the moment of birth

Sweet fawn
Is it the cruelty
Of mankind to creatures
Who, unlike you, will never be free
