The Existence of Cacophony
By Daniel North
An Animal Rights Poem from All-Creatures.org

All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize. This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.

The Existence of Cacophony
By Daniel North

For far too long, for so many years
Animals have been treated as a factory commodity
Instead of considering that all living things are equal
And forcing them into an existence of grave cacophony.
Hemorrhaging the earth’s agriculture
For fossil fuels and decimating the land
Whilst being led by the grains of ineffective practice
That bred the open sores on each hand.
Contaminating all the rivers and lakes
Floating nitrates flourish from the sewage plants
As a wave of dead fish flood over
The wall of murderous chants.
That brings on the diseases of affluence
Like the growing plague of avian bird flu
And destructive illnesses like BSE or CJD
That jeopardise the futures of me or you!
And it’s just because of escalating greed
From ignorantly deviant commerce
That tamper with the hazardous risks
Instead of amending the dangers left unversed.
By still abusing the use of antibiotics
And carrying out derisory inspections
For far too long, for so many years
The dairy industry has lost all its connections.
With the animals and the principles of the world
To even care what might be unhealthy or tainted
By distancing themselves further and further away
From all the morals that need to be reinstated.
