The Plastic Igloos of Avarice
By Daniel North
An Animal Rights Poem from All-Creatures.org

All of God's creatures have rights, a fact that most people don't seem to recognize. This includes both human and non-human animals, but not all of them can speak for themselves.

The Plastic Igloos of Avarice
By Daniel North

What is happening to our planet?
Why can't we to just learn care
for our animals instead of causing them harm?
Milking cows only if they can make a profit
and then throwing them on a rotting pile
behind the dairy farm.
Disregarding thousands so heartlessly
do the animals have any say in this?
As it’s not like they can say “No!” or “Please”
when their calves are quickly taken away
into the plastic igloos of avarice
or when female’s are so heavily birthed
That they can no longer use their knees.
And what do they know?
Man is too blinded with money
to even know how they might feel
being left dehydrated and anaemic
in a life so unnatural,
so degrading
when being slaughtered for their veal.
But we all can make a difference
By not buying their produce
and begin to use dairy alternative.
So that the law changes
and starts to realise
it’s cruelty like this
that should no longer live.
