We Love and Miss You Forever Sassy

From Life with Pigs
September 2023

At 32 years old, Sassy was elderly, and had a number of health conditions. She came to us three years ago with her human mom passed away, and was clearly depressed. We were so happy when she began to perk up again, and show us exactly how she got her name (that beak is sharp! and don’t you dare touch her phones!).

Sassy Parrot

The house feels far too quiet. Every indoor video we have taken for the last 3 years has included the sound of Sassy’s squawk, and we haven’t been able to have a straight conversation with Alexa during that time either. There is no one to ride the Roomba, to watch TV with us, or to sit on her dad’s shoulder while he plays the piano. We keep thinking that we have missed giving her her medication, then we look over to the spot where she used to perch.

We were so happy when she began to perk up again, and show us exactly how she got her name (that beak is sharp! and don’t you dare touch her phones!).

Sassy’s bright eyed expression came back and you could see that she was experiencing joy again. She loved her toys, and butting into every conversation. She wasn’t afraid of anyone, and the pigs loved her walking on their backs and nibbling on their hair.

We hope that her mom would have been happy with the home we gave her in her twilight years. Ryan was selected as her new person right away, but over the years she softened and she allowed me to become her other person too.

Some might say that God needed another angel, but we like to think he needed his best telemarketer—no one handles a phone better than Sassy!

We are so grateful we got to spend the years we did with you. We miss you and love you Sassy.
