In the last 12 years, Mr. Barker and Ms. Burnet helped LARC rescue 27 wolves and wolfdogs from Alaska, assisted LARC in the purchase of over 3000 surrounding acres, helped to equip LARC's full-service mobile veterinary trailer, provided funds to create our parrot sanctuary, and helped LARC in myriad other ways. All while helping thousands of other animals around the country.

Plaque honoring Bob Barker and Nancy
Burnett's contibutions to LARC Lockwood Animal Sanctuary
Today, August 26th, we lost a hero: legendary animal advocate and
history-making game show host Bob Barker passed away at the age of
99. LARC's Lorin Lindner was fortunate to have met Mr. Barker and
Nancy Burnet, his dear long-time friend and Executive Director of
his foundation, almost 30 years ago during a demonstration against
cruel and unnecessary animal research being conducted at UCLA.
Dr. Lindner was present at Chimp Haven in Louisiana 12 years ago
where Mr. Barker was recognized for his immensely generous gift to
support chimpanzees released from laboratories, an effort that was
spearheaded by the President of the New England Antivivisection
Society - on whose Board of Director's Dr. Lindner served for 16
years.
In the last 12 years, Mr. Barker and Ms. Burnet helped LARC rescue
27 wolves and wolfdogs from Alaska, assisted LARC in the purchase of
over 3000 surrounding acres, helped to equip LARC's full-service
mobile veterinary trailer, provided funds to create our parrot
sanctuary, and helped LARC in myriad other ways. All while helping
thousands of other animals around the country.
How do we say thank you for all of that...how do we say good bye.
With love and tears, simply with love and tears.
