URGENT - Call Albany Re Puppy Mill Bill

From: Animal Defenders of Westchester (ADOW)
April 201, 2021

Please call New York State Agriculture Committee Chair Donna Lupardo at her Albany Office. Ask her to vote the "Puppy Mill Pipeline Act" out of Committee for a vote by the entire New York State Legislature to stop cruel, abusive puppy mills in New York State.

You do not need to be a New York resident to call:

ALBANY: PH (518) 455-5431 (msg 24/7)

EMAIL: [email protected]

NOTE: We have been told that the person answering Representative Lupardo's Albany phone is countering with 'concern' for pet shop owners' livelihoods.

Two points:

1) New York State Legislators are not lobbyists for any business.

2) According to Best Friends Animal Society (which has done a lot of outreach on this issue), almost 300 venues in the U.S. and Canada have passed puppy mill restrictions, and pet shops have successfully converted to puppy-free food, supplies, toys facilities instead. https://resources.bestfriends.org/article/pet-store-dog-adoptions-list-stores?_ga=2.229239455.2087476649.1619019657-623015149.1619019657#NY

3) In 2021, Governments are addressing and passing humane legislation; it is unacceptable that Representative Lupardo is not even putting this bill up for a vote.
