Stop Animal Fighting

Seek Dog Fighting Investigation

Please contact Attorney General Elliot Spitzer and strongly request he conduct an in-depth investigation into the dog fighting industry in NYS. Some of you may have already contacted Spitzer as a result of a previous alert. Please write again if at all possible. To my knowledge, all he did as a result of our previous outreach was to send out form letters saying he'll consider our request. I don't believe any investigation has commenced.

As you may recall, an article by Douglas Montero in the NY Post ('Dog-eat-Dog world of Pit Bull Wars', Jan. 27, 2003) cited proof of the involvement of judges, police officers and other law makers in running and profiting from pit bull fighting. This is outrageous, and no amount of laws will make much of a difference in this depraved business while law makers are dealing in it.

More recently, the NY Daily News' Juan Gonzalez' article 'This Web Site's the Pits' (12/4) contains the source quote, "New York City is the center of it all for THE ENTIRE COUNTRY."

This is absolutely unacceptable in 'The Greatest City in the World.'

That we have the CACC's Ed Boks stating NYC has 'merely small backyard fighting' shows how desperately New York needs a profound, serious investigation into this horror.

Dogs are bleeding, suffering and dying at the hands of human monsters freely and unfettered by most rules. Please demand Elliot Spitzer initiate an investigation immediately. It's a good time for him to give this some attention; the Animal Fighting Amendment is active now, and Spitzer is alsoin the process of investigating and indicting members of the New York Racing Assn.

Contact him via his website:  click 'contact the AG' on the left side of the page, then under 'questions and comments' click: TO ATTORNEY GENERAL ELLIOT SPITZER.

Please cc Juan Gonzalez at the NY Daily News, and thank him for his article if you haven't already: [email protected]
