Campaigns What more proof of cruelty is needed? Published in METRO www.metro.us 4/3/06:
Regarding the photo 'Join the circus' (March 28): Seeing these
magnificent elephants herded through the streets is so sad. What's the
attraction, folks? Ringling has finally admitted they chain the elephants.
What more proof of cruelty do you need? With rumors of beatings, food
deprivation and baby animals ripped from their mothers, why must you still
rush to see elephants standing on their heads? Would seeing undercover
video stop you? The USDA's standards for circus animals are extremely lax,
and these beautiful, faceless beings can 'disappear' without being traced.
Please, in the name of all that is decent, don't patronize animal-user
circuses. Kiley Blackman Fair Use Notice: This document may contain
