Sled dog letter-METRO

Published in today's METRO, letters to the editor 2/2:

There is nothing 'prestigious' about the Alaskan sled dog race the Idiotrod satirizes (Metro, 1/28).   For the Iditarod, dogs are over bred, with those not making the cut usually shot in the head; some dogs suffer heart attacks during the grueling and exhausting race; between races, dogs live in inhumane conditions - and guess what happens to them when their racing days are over?

When profit is involved, the animals always lose - always.  For further information, visit .
