Letter asks for carriage horse advice We received
this letter from New Orleans regarding carriage horses there; our response
is below it: Dear Kiley, I just signed the petition to ban carriage horses in NYC. I hope that the
same type of effort can be made for the horses in New Orleans, should that
industry resume after the hurricane. It is terrible to see the skinny horses
and mules there with their lifeless eyes standing in the heat with one leg
lifted at a time to take the load off for a few seconds. Their plight needs
to be seen and addressed. Let me know if you are aware of any work on their
behalf. Thank you Elizabeth Hi Elizabeth, Thank you for signing the NYC petition to ban carriage horses. I am so
sorry to read the rest of your message; do you have activist groups in your
area? Please seek their help if possible, as you need outreach to your
local politicians, the public, etc. If you have contact info for your local
pols, forward them to us and we will gladly crosspost them. They need to
hear from you, and don't back down. The carriage owners have a vested
interest in keeping things as they are. I myself have never created a petition; if you like I'll refer you to the
creator to see if she could help you create one. Also contact the press, repeatedly; do public outreach, via tabling,
leafletting, etc. Have you contacted the large groups? Ask them to help;
some have employees in each city. Thank you for wanting to help these poor animals. Please feel free to
contact us at any time. May God bless your efforts. Kiley B ANIMAL DEFENDERS OF WESTCHESTER Fair Use Notice: This document may contain
