'Peta's in a hoof'

Published in AM NEW YORK (www.amny.com) 9/25/06:

Thank you so very much for covering the latest carriage horse death in NYC ('Peta's in a hoof' 9/22).

You note Mayor Bloomberg's position that carriage horses are 'monitored by city agencies and animal welfare leagues - ' which is the position of every single animal exploiter, including rodeos, animal-user circuses and factory farms; yet and still, calves DIE in rodeo events, circus animals DIE in sweltering boxcars, chickens DIE being boiled ALIVE AND CONSCIOUS in factory farms and horses DIE while dragging carriages through crowded streets with their faces in front of exhaust pipes...all while under the supposed 'watchful eye' of the city agencies.  So don't cite the city agencies, Mike, they are worthless.  And the 'animal welfare agencies' he refers to - the ASPCA - plays it safe and conservative; but even they favor a ban that would keep these poor animals at least within the confines of Central Park.
