Tuckahoe, N.Y.: As another circus passes through Westchester — now cruelly dragging along white tigers — I implore negligent Westchester officials, and others in the New York area, to finally join New York City and New Jersey by banning these abusive acts. Westchester is one of the very few areas in the region to still shamefully welcome traveling wild animal acts.
Despite promises to the contrary, officials have deliberately ignored 20 years of outreach, rallies, meetings, letters and education about circuses, and the details of how miserably abusive they are to intelligent beings forcibly brought here in boxcars and chains.
If politicians can’t represent all their constituents, they should resign forthwith. Enough with behind-the-times, do-nothing career legislators who want your votes and your hefty taxpayer dollars, then do as little as possible and refuse to act as decent, responsible human beings.
