We advocate on all animal protection and exploitation issues, including experimentation, factory farming, rodeos, breeders and traveling animal acts.
NOTE from ADOW: While departing from a protest of an expecially awful
petshop, we saw two
sobbing children bringing a box toward the entrance; when we asked what was in
the box, they showed us a terrified kitten in it - their father told them to
sell their kitten to the petshop. Instead, that kitten went home with us, and
Blair was kind enough to give him a great home.
From Blair:
We met Valentine, also known as Bugs Kitty for his gray and white tuxedo, at
Puppy World on the Grand Concourse where he was almost relinquished to an
uncertain and chancy fate. He reciprocated the affection with patty cakes as
we careened to the Upper West Side.
This fur baby kneaded his way into my heart for many years to come until he
crossed over unexpectedly and traumatically at the end of April.
If you protest a dreadful puppy parlor, who would have thought you'd return
with a winsome kitten that would endear himself for nearly 16 years?
Serendipity or providential.
I will never know, but of this much I am certain, on that fateful August
date, this beloved feline rescued me.
