Companion Animal Memorials
In Memory of
Matt - 6 May 2005 We adopted Matt from a rescue group. He was infested with fleas, severely
anemic and malnourished. Despite the obvious neglect and hard time Matt had
been through, he was a sweet, loving, trusting cat from the first moment we
met him. (The picture below shows Matt the first night he arrived at our
home.)
We cooked him homemade food, started him on supplements, and nursed him
back to health. Matt's strong determination to get well helped him flourish
into a healthy cat with a shiny coat and sparkling eyes. (See photo below)
He adored both humans and other cats. He was known for being a great
cuddler, as well as a very talented ball player! He was also very talkative.
Matt was always the first cat to greet you at the door. With his long
black hair and big, floppy paws, he always brought a smile to our faces. In 2004, Matt was diagnosed with kidney disease. He needed fluids once a
week, and very bravely sat through it, running to the kitchen afterward for
his treat! In January 2005, Matt was diagnosed with Lymphoma. Despite his failing
health, Matt lived his remaining months with spunk and dignity. Matt lost his battle on May 6, 2005. He died in his favorite basket,
surrounded by his family. He is deeply missed and will be loved forever. We
consider ourselves very lucky to have had Matt in our life. Shell |
