WHITE PLAINS, NY June 28, 2001 Members of Animal
Defenders of Westchester will gather for a demonstration on Thursday, June
28th, outside of the Nissan dealership at 500 Tarrytown Road, from 6:30 -
7:30 p.m. to protest their current ad campaign that promotes the horrific
'sport' of bullfighting.
The animal protection community has bombarded the
Nissan Motor Corporation with requests to pull a bizarre ad they are running
in which a car with a cape on it chases a live bull. In a sea of
questionable commercials involving animals, this one stands out for
glorifying the archaic monstrosity of staged fighting between animal and
man.
Nissan says they are 'sensitive to consumer's
complaints' while they refuse to pull the ad; this is, in reality, JUNK
sensitivity - a total LACK of sensitivity that demeans us all.
Please help us send a message to advertisers, for the
sake of the animal's dignity. "Cockfighting is legal in three states - can
we soon look forward to seeing THAT in a commercial for toothpaste?" says
Kiley Blackman, the organizer of this event.
