Press Release KIDS HELP ANIMALS BY HOLDING BAKE SALE! FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: September 1, 2004 On September 4, Yonkers
children will hold a bake sale from 9:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m at the corner of
Roberts Avenue and Valley Avenue near North Broadway, to benefit stray
animals in the area. A goodie basket will also be raffled off. They are
actively seeking donations of baked good s to assist with this effort. They
call themselves "Kids for Cats." The funds raised will go toward low-cost spay/neuter certificates
provided by the Animal Welfare League (914) 948-2094. The children have been
feeding stray animals in the area, and realize that the cat colonies
multiply rapidly unless the animals are neutered; they are commencing a
‘trap/neuter/release (TNR) program, knowing these animals have a harsh and
difficult life on the street. Two of the children have veterinary
aspirations, and there are wildlife rehabilitators in the family as well.
Kiley Blackman of Animal Defenders of Westchester, who saw their ad for
baked goods in a local pet store said “These children are our future; and I
am overjoyed to hear about compassion, awareness, and a desire to help
others starting at such an early age. The animals, and society, are blessed
to have such wonderful young citizens.” |
