AWARD-WINNING DOCUMENTARY COMES TO WESTCHESTER - DR. JANE GOODALL CALLS ‘PEACEABLE KINGDOM’ A MASTERPIECE FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: Yonkers, NY June 8 Animal Defenders of
Westchester is pleased to announce the Westchester exclusive screening of PEACEABLE
KINGDOM, on June 8, 7 PM, at the Grinton Will Library, 1500 Central Avenue. Speakers include Marisa Miller of Global Green Foundation, Nada Khader of
WESPAC, and Peaches Gillette, who is featured in the film. Delicious vegan refreshments will be served, and door prizes include a
signed, personalized poster by noted artist Peter Max. Imagine awakening one day to realize the work you were trained to do
since birth, the values taught in your family for generations, went against
the deepest part of your being? Howard Lymon is a former rancher who assisted Oprah Winfrey when the beef
industry sued her unsuccessfully for her statement, “(Lymon’s information)
stopped me cold from eating another burger.” He had turned his family’s
small organic farm into a giant feedlot; but after a health crisis he
realized his operation was destroying everything he loved, including his
health, the environment - and the animals. His, and many other stories, are
vividly told in PEACEABLE KINGDOM, which centers on Farm Sanctuary in Watkins Glen. Lori and Gene
Bauston, founders of Farm Sanctuary, had investigated stockyards and found
sick animals piled on top of dead animals. A spontaneous act of mercy for a
dying sheep turned into a lifetime commitment to shelter hundreds of rescued
animals and transform the way farm animals are viewed in our society. PEACEABLE KINGDOM has screened at 24 film festivals across the country.
It had its world premiere at Lincoln Center, where guests included tv
jounalist Bill Moyers, members of the US Congress, and musician Moby, whose
music was donated for the film. An inspiring story of compassion,
redemption, healing and hope, it received the Ojai Film Festival theme award
for ‘enriching the human spirit through film.’ Imagine awakening one day to realize everything you’d been taught since
birth didn’t make sense anymore... |
