' WE'RE SORRY WE POOP - PLEASE DON'T KILL US'

ADVOCATES TO ATTEND MAMARONECK MTG IN SUPPORT OF GEESE

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, NY   MARCH 11, 2013

Members of Westchester4Geese will join with other advocacy groups and independent residents on March 11, 2013 at 7 PM in the Village of Mamaroneck, to express their views on Mayor Rosenblum's decision to contract with the USDA for a massive slaughter of their geese residents.  The mayor and Board of Trustees are also considering contracting with Steve Garber, who has been quoted as saying, '"There are lots of ways to get rid of the geese.  You can throw rocks at them. You can hit them with sticks.  These are things that people don't like. But, we are talking about geese." (NY Post)

We believe Mamaroneck can do better - and we have submitted our own proposal, suggesting Geesebusters as the least expensive of all options, which provides a guarantee AND will never kill or harm any geese or their babies.  'Geesebusters will solve any bird problem humanely, effectively, with far less cost... than any wasteful and harmful method used by the USDA and similar businesses who's bottom-line is just killing geese,'  states Robert Guadagna,  Geesebusters' owner and proprietor.  The plan also includes provisions for free birth control and applications of grape-based repellent on the grass.

Kiley Blackman, who has presented her own proposal at the invitation of the Board of Trustees and will be attending Monday's meeting, said, 'It's amazing:  We cringe at stories of cruelty to animals - a kitten burned to death in an oven, puppies being drowned...we are even horrified as a people about hearing of larger animals such as  horses deliberately being starved to death...and the press would eagerly report on the horrific act of some criminal stomping a mama goose and her baby to death - yet without hesitation we make plans to kill 'em en mass because they poop just like we do, instead of finding solutions.

And speaking of horses, they can deposit some seriously large poop, as large as a baseball - but because people can make a buck off 'em with carriage rides and the like, they 'look the other way' and don't complain; if people could make a buck off geese rides their poop would be ignored too.'  The geese don't bother anyone: They walk around minding their business, eating grass and nurturing their babies.   Best as I can see, unless a goose comes at you with a knife, she has a right to live.'
