The beloved black-and white mutt owned by John F.
Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette is reportedly alive and well.
In a twist of fate, the dog, named Friday, who
apparently almost always accompanied the couple on flights, didn't board
the ill-fated plane last Friday. He is now reportedly living with a
Kennedy family member in Massachusetts.
Why he didn't go on the doomed ride to Martha's Vineyard
for a Kennedy family wedding is a mystery. But he was evidently not with
Carolyn Bessette Kennedy last Friday night when she loaded her bags into
a car-service vehicle and headed to the Essex Airport in Fairfield,
N.J., according to published reports.
Friday was often seen tethered to a pole in Manhattan
outside various eateries while his famous master enjoyed breakfast. He
was also a companion for the couple when they cuddled and took walks in
their Tribeca neighborhood.
