To personalize your letters to senators,
representatives, officials, labs, schools, etc., etc., start with a
sentence about yourself and why YOU'RE writing, such as:
"As a long-time resident of your district..."
"As a mother of three (you don't need to say what species!)..."
"As a teen-ager in your school..."
"As a taxpayer concerned with family values..."
"As a senior citizen who has volunteered for many years..."
"As a person who loves vacationing in Utah..."
The point is to PERSONALIZE your introduction to let the
reader know this issue affects you PERSONALLY and you have thought about
how it impacts your life, your values, your family, your
environment...etc.
This makes what you say EFFECTIVE and much less easy to
"dismiss" as part of a preformatted "chain letter." It opens you up to
the reader as a real person with whom they might identify. Just a
suggestion...
