Shark's New Rodeo Campaign

SHARK is preparing to start the New Year with a very important and ambitious campaign. As you know, we spent 2004 documenting rodeo animal cruelty more comprehensively than ever before. We filmed 19 rodeos in 10 states. We turned up at rodeos and in states where SHARK had never monitored before. The rodeo mafia never saw it coming. We obtained more documentation of animal abuse than we even knew what to do with. Our undercover work culminated in the Steer Roping Finals in Amarillo, TX.

We strongly encourage you to visit http://www.sharkonline.org/rodeocrueltyprca.mv and see some of the highlights of our investigation. When you view the steer roping clips, the PRCAs sanctioned but little publicized event, you will understand why we are making it the centerpiece of our upcoming campaign. It is both hideous and utterly indefensible. You will immediately see why the PRCA keeps this event out of regular rodeo and flying as far below the radar as possible.

Armed with this shocking and inexcusable video footage, we feel the time is right to attack rodeo at its financial source its corporate sponsors. First on our list is Campbell Soup, makers of Pace Salsa, a very important rodeo sponsor. A campaign against Daimler Chrysler, which produces Dodge Trucks, will soon follow.

Our Campbell's website www.CampbellCruelty.com and www.CampbellKillsAnimals.com is now on the web. We invite you to check it out and learn exactly what Campbell Soup is doing to promote animal abuse. This site will soon have a list of animal advocacy organizations opposed to rodeo. This is all of them, of course, but we are currently securing permission from groups around the world before including them. Pat Vinet has been very busy sending out announcements and compiling this list.

Contacting every animal protection group is a huge undertaking. It isnt even possible to reach all the good people in this world who care about animals. For that reason, we ask that you contact us at [email protected] if youd like your organization to appear on our list and you havent gotten an email already from Pat. Heres the lists heading: "The following humane organizations are opposed to the cruelty and abuse of animals in rodeos."

Thanks so much for all of your concern and support throughout 2004. With your continued support, we hope to make dramatic improvements for animals in 2005.

Kindest regards,

Steve Hindi
