Lantern Books is delighted to announce its first annual
Essay Competition. The details are at
http://www.lanternbooks.com/essay.php
Everyone is eligible to submit an essay, unless they've
worked at Lantern in the past, or currently work there.
To maintain strict impartiality, they have assigned
staff-member Olivia Lane to receive the submissions, give each essay a
number, make sure there is no biographical information in the essay, and
keep a file linking the number with the bio information. Olivia will not
be part of the judging process, and none of the rest of the Lantern team
(who will constitute one out of five voices on the jury) will have any
idea who submitted what. The remaining four judges will be announced later
in the year. Obviously, judges will not be allowed to submit an essay!
We hope that you will enter and/or pass this email far and
wide to as many people as you know. Lantern is already receiving entries
and hope that this will stimulate a lot of new and interesting thoughts
about the topic areas, which are Animal Advocacy, Vegetarian Movement, or
the Environmental Movement. The essay should be 1500 words or less.
