Such A Difference
1999 By Diana Moreton - [email protected]

Differences between black and white
gaps between farmed and domestic
it is not our pain and suffering
there lies the obvious rub

Same old excuse for slavery
Uncle Tom would surely agree
repressing other species
represses you and me

Where did the idea' come from
to separate a dog from a cow
pigs squeal screaming to slaughter
kittens weaned learn to meow

Human values learned in childhood
prevent formation of compassionate rage
selfishly stomping through each day
in a superior, unenlightened way

We have rules we stick to God
dare not tread on Heavenly sod
speed the day when I stop eating
rescue an animal to forgo a beating
