These dogs rescued from labs were extremely terrified when they were first brought to us and even the slightest sound, like dropping of a pencil wound startle them but their ability to trust and love was immense and we were able to see that in just a few days of direct interaction with them.

During the past few months, CUPA has put a lot of effort in rehoming these Beagle dogs that were being used for testing in laboratories. Over 200 dogs were successfully re-homed but it was no easy task. These dogs are highly traumatized and can live best with owners who have a good understanding in dealing with traumatized dogs. They require dedicated and patient parents who allow the dog to settle down at their own pace.

They had never been exposed to sunlight or rain and for them it was like being born again, their every experience was new! Within days to coming to the CUPA shelter, many of them started to gain back their glow and charm and became very comfortable with having humans around. Some, even demanding for attention.

When the news broke out that these dogs were available for adoption, many kind people came forward to open their homes and hearts to these loyal beings. The pictures narrate the entire process and story of how the beagles were re-homed. Many CUPA members and vets were present to counsel and advice the families who came forward to adopt the dogs. It is important that people understand the challenges that accompany taking home a dog which had been at the brunt of much abuse.

CUPA is grateful for all those who came forward and assisted in the successful adoption of all the beagles.
