Horseracing Wrongs
January 2018
Collapsed After Race; Broken Cannon; Fractured Skull – Wyoming's Dead, 2017.
Through a request to the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission, I have
confirmed the following kills on that state’s tracks in 2017.
Bk Skat Kat, June 24, Wyoming, race 2
“dislocation lumbar” (2-year-old, third race)
From Zero to Deserio, June 25, Wyoming, race 1
“collapsed after race” (2-year-old, first race)
Favorite Vision, July 5, Wyoming, training
“broken cannon bone” (2-year-old being prepped for first race)
Makinabundle, August 27, Sweetwater, race 5
“compound fracture”
Sb Hoonigan, September 3, Sweetwater, race 6
“compound fracture”
Run Stormy Run, September 9, Central Fair, race 6
“spiral fracture”
Quality Guy, September 9, Central Fair, race 7
“compound fracture”
Act Your Wage, September 23, Energy, race 8
“compound fracture”
Judys Girl, September 30, Energy, race 9
“compound fracture”
In addition, these still-very-much-active racehorses died on track grounds
from what the industry deceptively calls “non-racing” causes. No matter,
morally they are no less casualties of this vile business than the ones
above.
Sb Itty Bitty, August 18, Sweetwater
“flipped over in shedrow – fractured skull”
Eyema Dancer, October 1, Energy
“colic” (2-year-old, had already been raced four times)
There can be no justification for the killing of animals for $2 bets. End it. Now.
