"Protecting animals and families: Recognizing and responding to the link between animal cruelty and family violence"
On November 18, I traveled to Michigan to give a presentation on "Protecting animals and families: Recognizing and responding to the link between animal cruelty and family violence" as part of our Speaker Series in partnership with Madonna University and the Michigan Humane Society.
Seventy-nine people joined us for the talk, including Madonna students in
the Humane Studies and Forensics programs, plus animal cruelty investigators
and veterinarians from Michigan Humane, and community members.
My trip also allowed me a quick stopover on the way home to speak to Baltimore County, Maryland, law enforcement and animal welfare professionals on responding to domestic violence situations involving animals.
Thanks to April Doherty of the Felony Review Unit and Animal Abuse Unit, Baltimore County State's Attorney's Office, for organizing this great event!
