The number of lives lost in 2014 is horrifying...

In October, the 2014 numbers for the use of animals in experiments were released by the UK government. From 2015, the government only counts the number of completed experiments in annual figures.

The number of lives lost in 2014 is horrifying:

  • 3.87 million animal experiments in ONE YEAR
  • 10,600 animal experiments in ONE DAY
  • 441 animal experiments in ONE HOUR

Shockingly, 184,000 experimental procedures were classified as ‘Severe’ meaning animals experienced severe pain and suffering such as being poisoned to death or given electric shocks.

Some of these animals didn’t get pain relief after surgery, and suffered long term harm.
