On dairy farms, no one is getting consent from a cow to take her baby away.
No mother should be denied the right to nurse and care for her child.
When my daughter was born, it helped affirm for me the connection that all
animal mothers have with their babies. More than ever I saw how the animal
use industry separates moms from their babies without any thought.
On dairy farms, no one is getting consent from a cow to take her baby away
from her, or to take her milk for the use and consumption of humans. Her
milk was meant for her newborn calf, just as a human’s milk is made for her
newborn baby. My breast milk is the perfect food for my child, especially
designed for her nutritional needs, just as a cow’s milk is designed
especially for her calf.
We should not be intruding into the mothering relationship of anyone in
order to steal and commodify their maternal lactations! I feel so
passionately about this, I have just written a children’s book called
That’s Not My Momma’s Milk. I hope it helps to spread and normalize the
message that a mother’s milk belongs to her baby and no one else.
