(Cohotate Preserve - 5 September 2001 Field Trip - 14) Continuing down the path towards the river, we came upon this very interesting cluster of berries, which look like little eyes on stems.  They are the berries of the White Baneberry (Actaea pahypoda).  This is a medicinal plant used by the Indians for a variety of ills (primarily female ones).  Our thanks to Jim J. for identifying this plant for us.
