1. Mayor of Marshall, TX is Vegan

Ed Smith, the mayor of Marshall, Texas, is a vegan advocate! After he developed cancer, he switched to a whole-foods vegan diet and won his battle with cancer. He states, "Most of these chronic diseases we have in the United States, for the most part, and even a lot of our cancers, are driven by what we're eating."

How wonderful that Mayor Smith is educating people about the benefits of a vegan diet. We need more leaders like him, who raise awareness about such an important issue that has tremendous implications on all of God’s Creation.

2. Famous Quote

“Compassion for animals doesn’t drain away some finite reserve of moral energy and idealism, to the detriment of human welfare, but surely adds to the supply.”
~ Matthew Scully

3. Chlorine and Much More in Chickens’ Flesh

Paul Shapiro, vice president of farm animal protection at The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) exposes the poultry industry for its unethical and dangerous practices that put consumers at risk of health problems. He mentions poultry dipped in chlorine to clean fecal matter, pathogens such as Salmonella, and of course, the intense confinement of chickens in factory farms.

Please visit Got Chlorine? Your Chicken Might.

The poultry industry doesn’t care about the health of consumers, just their money. It’s an industry based on suffering, disease and death; and not a business that accords with Christ’s teachings of compassion, mercy and love.

4. Bible Verse
(RSV) Colossians 3:16

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God.

When Jesus' teachings of compassion, mercy and peace dwell in our hearts, we are able to witness God's love for us and Creation. Spreading compassion, love and peace is certainly a way to praise God.

5. Eating Animals is Too Risky

According to this recent Mayo Clinic Health Letter, the risk of not going meatless are too high. Animal products are loaded saturated fat and cholesterol, which contribute to heart disease, stroke and other diseases related to artery health. In contrast, eating a plant-based diet is not risky, but very beneficial!

Please visit The Risks of Not Going Meatless.

The evidence is undeniable: eating God’s animals is bad for our health. Also, with all the plant-based foods available, choosing to eat animal products is inconsistent with Christian beliefs of compassion, mercy and love.
