1. Many Reasons To Not Eat Eggs
The egg industry is a callous one and doesn’t want consumers to know it. Here’s why:
To learn more about each of these reasons, please visit You Will Never Eat Eggs Again After Reading This.
Eggs are not needed in a healthy human diet and eating them causes misery to God’s hens and their babies. As stewards of God’s Creation, do we need any more reasons to avoid eating eggs?
2. Famous Quote
“I refuse to eat animals because I cannot nourish myself by the sufferings
and by the death of other creatures. I refuse to do so, because I suffered
so painfully myself that I can feel the pains of others by recalling my own
sufferings.”
~ Holocaust survivor Edgar Kupfer-Koberwitz, in “Animal, My Brethren”
3. Eating Abused Chickens
Nicholas Kristoff writes an excellent article in the NY Times exposing the cruel chicken industry, especially focusing on Purdue and their lies to consumers. In fact, he mentions Craig Watts, who raises about 750,000 chickens a year for Purdue. Watts was so stunned at Purdue’s false statements about how their raise chickens that he decided to come clear and show the truth. Kristoff clearly states that Purdue’s practices are standard of the chicken industry and incredibly misleading.

The vast majority of God’s animals raised for food live under hellish conditions and don’t die in a humane way. These animals are commodities to the chicken industry, certainly not viewed as loving creations of a loving God.
4. Bible Verses
(RSV) Proverbs 11:3
The integrity of the upright guides them, but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys them.
The animal agriculture industry is not particularly known for its integrity, but instead for its deceiving nature. Supporting it makes us accomplices of their deceit and destruction to God’s Creation.
5. God’s Animals Feel
Jonathan Balcombe, Director of animal sentience at the Humane Society Institute for Science and Policy, explains that animals feel, that they are sentient and therefore perceive the world through an array of rich emotions, both negative and positive. Balcombe explains that animals care about their lives as much as we care about ours, and that they clearly fear, joy, pain, sadness, etc. In short, animals are much more alike to us than most people think, and this knowledge brings tremendous implications in regards to our relationship to those animals we abuse for our benefit, such as those we call “food.”

Continuing to eat God’s animals even though we know this causes them much pain and suffering is insane! We can escape this insanity by allowing ourselves to awaken our buried compassion. Only then we can choose to reject causing unnecessary suffering and death in God’s Creation.
