More cattle in feedlots as the drought continues
Due to the droughts in the central and northern Plains in the US, more ranchers are forced to sell their heifers and steers as there is no grass for them to graze on. On the other hand, the number of cattle fattened up for slaughter on feedlots has increased dramatically.
To us, Christians Vegetarians, this means sad news not just because the number of slaughtered animals is not decreasing but because the conditions on which cattle is being raised (feedlots) are terrible and completely unnatural to them.
