Animals Matter to Me
by Deborah Uhlman, a CVA sustaining member
Animals provide unconditional love when love and kindness are shown
to them. They love you whether you look good that day or drank too much
the night before. They feel pain as you do and have feelings. An animal
can be your best friend at times. My heart hurts with respect to the
manner in which animals used for food, fur, and science are treated. It
breaks my heart that people purchase dogs from uncaring and abusive
puppy mills rather than adopt so many in need. Millions of beautiful and
well mannered animals are killed every year when not adopted.
Misinformation and lack of understanding regarding animals are
ubiquitous. Yes, animals matter to me. They have penetrated my soul in
their suffering. They cry out with hope that someone will hear them and
take action against the manner in which they are being treated. Their
agonizing whimpers resonate around the world. In the name of greed,
profit, selfishness and ignorance we watch their unprecedented
suffering. With blinders in tact we cause one after another to become
endangered or extinct due to the actions of mankind.
