Devastating Effects of Global Warming
Scientists are trying to predict
the possible devastating effects of global warming on the flora and
fauna on Earth. According to the UN Convention on Biological
Diversity, "Climate change is forecast to be become one of the
biggest threats to biodiversity."
The UN report in March, 2006 stated
that humans are responsible for the worst spate of extinctions due
to destruction of habitats, expanding cities, pollution,
deforestation, global warming and the introduction of "invasive
species".
The UN also reported that 20-30% of
plant and animal species assessed so far are likely to be at greater
risk of extinction if increases in global average temperature exceed
1.5 to 2.5 Celsius" (2.7 to 4.5 Fahrenheit).

Animals, plants under threat of global warming
Factory farming is responsible for
18% of the gases that contribute to global warming. Industrial
agriculture is polluting the environment, contributing to health
problems and to the suffering of billions of animals every day. The
transition to a plant-based diet potentially holds solutions to some
environmental problems. We have a sacred responsibility and
tremendous privilege to take care of God’s creation, and our choice
of diet is an essential part of it.
