Third expansion of beef recall
Due to possible E. coli
contamination, a ground beef recall has been expanded for the third
time in a week to now include 5.7 million pounds. The meat, sold in
numerous supermarket chains under various brand names, seems to be
the cause for an outbreak in Western states that caused 14
illnesses, from April 25th through May 18th.

Although this recall might prevent
thousands of people from getting sick, it doesn’t take away the pain
and suffering the animals went through or the environmental damage
produced by factory farms. Moving toward a plant-based diet helps
prevent cases like this one, where animals are raised and
slaughtered with no benefit to anyone or Earth.
